When you’re a world-famous rockstar, apparently you can ask for just about anything.
Van Halen famously demanded bowls of M&M’s with all the brown ones removed. Mariah Carey reportedly requested 100 white doves and 20 white kittens, while Madonna allegedly insisted on having her own furniture transported around the world so every dressing room felt like home.
These extraordinary requests form part of what’s known as a tour rider β a list of demands that must be met before the artist takes the stage.
And while some of these requests are completely ridiculous, there’s something to be said for asking. After all, you never know what you might get!

So, What’s on Your Property Tour Rider?
Which brings me to the current property market.
We’re seeing a market where some properties are taking longer to sell, buyers have more opportunities to negotiate, and certain sellers are becoming increasingly willing to consider offers they might have dismissed twelve months ago.
So perhaps it’s time to dust off that property wish list and start thinking like a rockstar.
Remember that magnificent home you inspected a year ago but couldn’t quite justify the price?
That balcony with the uninterrupted ocean views you thought was forever out of reach?
The extra garage for your boat, caravan, classic car collection or whatever toys you’ve accumulated over the years?
Perhaps it’s the swimming pool, the oversized block, the separate guest accommodation or simply that extra bedroom you’ve always wanted.
Now might be the perfect time to ask for more.
Of course, not every property or suburb is experiencing the same conditions. Some homes remain highly sought after, while others are presenting genuine opportunities.
The key is knowing where those opportunities exist and having the confidence to explore them.
I’m not suggesting you demand a bowl of M&M’s with the brown ones removed at settlement. Although, who am I to judge?
But I am suggesting you revisit those properties you once thought were beyond your reach.
Because in this market, your dream home might be closer than you think.
And sometimes, the most outrageous request is the one you never make.
